A unique fusion combining the sweet-savory glaze of Asian meatballs with the creamy comfort of Swedish meatballs. Perfect for adventurous eaters who love both cuisines!
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 item egg
- 2 clove garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 cup green onions
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Directions
- 1
Combine all meatball ingredients in a bowl. Mix gently until just combined. Form into 1-inch balls.
- 2
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meatballs on all sides (about 8-10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- 3
In the same skillet, add beef broth, cream, hoisin, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Bring to a simmer.
- 4
Stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook until sauce thickens (2-3 minutes).
- 5
Return meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes until cooked through and sauce coats the meatballs.
- 6
Serve over mashed potatoes, topped with sesame seeds, green onions, and pickled vegetables on the side.
Chef's Notes
For extra flavor, toast the sesame seeds before garnishing. The sauce can be made ahead and reheated.
